I recently ran across this article that Dani Johnson wrote. Dani Johnson is the only outside trainer we recommend in LGN Revolution, based off of the results she has created.

You just enrolled a brand new associate into your Network Marketing business and you are afraid to tell them what it really takes to get the job done because they might quit. A reality in ANY business venture is that there is attrition...people quit. So let's look at how you should prepare your new reps for the realities to come in their new business and how you can best set them up to succeed.

We've all heard the expression, "it's a numbers game". This rings true in all professions. As a school teacher for example, you know that a certain percentage of your students will get A's and some will get F's. That's just the way it works. It's called life.

I've watched this happen so many times while training home-based business builders. About 90% of people who bring new reps into their business opportunity don't tell that new person what it's really going to take to make it.

When you bring someone into your business, the responsibility has to be on that new person to build their own business. I'm not saying that you love them and leave them or drop kick them. When they first get started you say, "Listen Bob, I want you to pull out your calendar because we do presentations on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Pull out that calendar right now and make an appointment for these presentations. If you just started a part time job there would be certain hours you would be required to show up at the workplace in order to get paid."

"The difference here is that you are an independent business person and the downfall is that you can make bad choices causing your business not to be profitable. So Bob, these are some things that you will need to do. Tuesday nights at 7:15pm we have presentations and also Saturdays at 10:00am. I need you to book that time aside now and go all the way through the month booking those times. Just like in the work force, if you don't show up, you don't get paid. This is not a lottery ticket. Being successful in business requires work and dedication."

Some of you that market consumables like nutrition products are afraid to tell the new associate that they need to get on autoship. When it comes time to tell them the importance of being on autoship we become afraid because we think they might quit. You must be strong on this because it is the cost of doing business. Could you imagine Steve Jobs not using a Mac computer? If the CEO does not use his own company's product, the company will fail and so will we.

You can't allow the new rep to have the mindset that everything is free. This is not the lottery. You've got to be willing to tell that person what it's really going to take. You are being dishonest if you're not willing to tell them the truth.

If a new person tells you they want to earn a consistent professional level of income like 5, 10, or 20k per month, they need to know that that won't happen by chance. That's going to happen by learning a job, mastering skills and consistently plugging in to stay on track so those skills continue to be mastered.

A professional basketball player doesn't become great by just showing up at the games without practice and investment into skill development. The bottom line is that you get out what you put in.You have to be up front and honest with people in telling them what it takes to earn a professional level of income. "Bob, you say that you make $3k per month at your current job, right? How many hours per week does it take to earn that salary, 40? Well, since you don't have an extra 40 hours to earn $3k in your home business, you have to realize that it will take you a while to get to that level of income."

"Bob, you need to have new people in front of those Tuesday and Saturday presentations consistently. If you don't, you're not building your business. You've got to invest time and some resources into getting professional training." If you are not directing new associates to the proper training tools then you are only hurting them. They will end up winging it, getting discouraged because they are not doing it right and they will start giving you excuses like they just don't have the time to build the business.

Most MLM amateurs are selling new people how easy it is to become a millionaire like the business is a lottery. It is your obligation to inform your new reps that Network Marketing is a profession and that they must invest in skill development in order to have the success they desire. These people will thank you down the road for being straight forward and honest about what it really takes to succeed. What may seem uncomfortable at first will pay huge dividends in the future of your growing enterprise.
